Preserving History

Chapter House Preservation Fund

Most recently, Baltimore Chapter, NSDAR, donated funds to the Maryland State Society Chapter House Preservation Fund to support its historic residence. The Maryland State Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (MSSDAR) purchased the Queen Anne-style home in Roland Park, Baltimore, on February 11, 1953.

It was built in 1892, the same year the inaugural Maryland DAR chapter, Baltimore Chapter, NSDAR, was formed. Since that time, it has been lovingly maintained and used regularly for meetings and social events.

Additionally, the State Society owns a collection of period antique furniture, artwork, textiles, china, silver and memorabilia curated in the house and showcased during private events and tours.

Digitizing Documents

The Maryland State Society has embarked on an ambitious project to preserve the historical records, going back to early 1900s, by scanning them to a digital format. This ensures that these priceless records will not be lost, even if the paper copies should be damaged by fire, water, insects or age.  Baltimore Chapter, NSDAR, members have taken part in this initiative.
